Hi! I'm Kaya, and I'm a high school junior. I'm running the Kids Write Now! program in conjunction with Ms. Jennifer Woo, the head of teen services at the Richmond/Senator Milton Marks Branch of the San Francisco Public Library.
​
I was a super shy kid -- I was afraid to even ask a teacher to use the bathroom -- but creative writing has given me a voice. Sharing my work with others and taking control of my story has changed the way that I see myself and the way I relate to the world around me. That's why I started this program: I hope to inspire and empower tweens to take ownership of their narratives and their identities through creative expression -- and support kids who might not otherwise have access to a creative writing community.
